"Little Nemo in Slumberland" dated November 27, 1910:

Look, McCay's architecture is always brilliant an dynamic and full of splendor… but rarely is he able to "bring it to life" in the way he does today… *badum hissss* - 1/15
Nemo decides that he wants to stay back and spend some time in the Art Department of the New York Herald (super meta; this is the place that he's created again and again week by week). - 2/15
Flip and Impie go to help the Captain park the airship and Flip laments that there was no reason to land, because you can see all the sights of New York from the airship. - 3/15
Now, this is where it gets kooky! When an architectural owl overhears him, he tells Flip that he knows of a New York sight that can't be seen from the sky… - 4/15
Kind of ironic given that he's an owl, no? - 5/15
The primary fun of this strip occurs when Flip fails to get onto the train and the Owl and Impie try desperately (with no success) to reunite with him. - 6/15
The antics span the bottom two tiers, but most of the back and forth, on and off, occurs in the third one. - 7/15
I'll note that this is a very polite, Owl! He treats Impie well; he isn't rude or degrading, he doesn't yell or scream at him… this is quite nice to see. - 8/15
When Flip runs out of money, he eventually ends up in Brooklyn… "a thousand miles from New York". - 9/15
Obviously, his New York readers would be aware that Brooklyn isn't nearly that far away from New York City; this would, of course, give them something to giggle about. - 10/15
This strip is an experience in getting lost in an unfamiliar place; it's an experience that I've had (the Toronto subway station takes some getting used to…) and I'm sure that many others have, as well. - 11/15
How will Flip make it back to his friends? What sights will he encounter on his own? We'll have to wait and see. - 12/15
It is interesting though, that it is Flip who is lost this time. More often than not, it's Nemo who gets lost and must find his way back to his friends. Here, McCay plays a bit of a reversal. - 13/15
An fun and interesting twist on a common situation. - 14/15
This is my reading of "Little Nemo in Slumberland" #268. What's yours? - 15/15
