Well, we've finally made it. We're arrived on Mars! - 1/12

It's an interesting place, this Mars… though the privatization of publicly available resources has been seen before (previously ice; this time air), it gets a bit of a twist here. - 2/12

I'm interested in how this air thing works… do the inhabitants of Mars *need* air to survive? Or is it a luxury? If it's the latter, this poses a particular problem for our friends who… uhm… very much need it. - 3/12

This is evidenced by panels 5-7 wherein the group quickly becomes unable to breathe as the atmosphere seems void of air (oxygen) all together. - 4/12

If it's the latter, than the B. Gosh & Company are profiting off a luxury item… still the worst kind of capitalism because it *should* be freely available to all as a part of Mars' atmosphere… - 5/12

If it's the former, than the B. Gosh & Company are the worst kind of capitalists, profiting off of a resource that the inhabitants require to survive and have no choice but to pay for. - 6/12

Now, even beyond this… it sort of seems that the B. Gosh & Company has a pretty solid stranglehold on all things that belong to Mars… I mean, they own the air, they own the property… who exactly is this company? - 7/12

Furthermore, I wonder what the purpose of roads are (as depicted in panel 7) when Mars' inhabitants can fly? Maybe only *some* of the inhabitants can fly? It'll be interesting to see. - 8/12

Of note is the fact that the inhabitants lose their wings in the penultimate panel once they land on the air ship. Is this pictorial negligence? Intentional? Perhaps their wings are not "natural", but some form of technology? - 9/12

I'm pretty excited to explore this strip from the competing perspectives of two species meeting "aliens" and seeing how they communicate/how their cultures interact. - 10/12

Will they get along? Will there be conflict? How will it all end? I love this strip because it sets up SO MANY QUESTIONS for which the upcoming weeks will hopefully provide some answers! This will be a really collaborative series, I think! - 11/12

This is my reading of "Little Nemo in Slumberland" #237. What's yours? - 12/12
