Another New Years strip that continues the #LittleNemo tradition of personifying the passing year as an old man and the incoming year as a newborn baby! - 1/10
Though this will be our third New Years in Slumberland, this one is much more hectic than the last… Father Time seems in a real hurry to get 1908 where he needs to be… - 2/10
Counter this with 1907's saunter from panels 4-6 when he's tripped by the boys, and you get an interesting reading experience that mimics the crash. - 3/10
Though the boys are bowled over by Father time in panel 2 and actually stationary in panel 3, for some reason, when I read it, I still felt the forward motion at this point… so much so that the crash at panel 6 was super effective for me. - 4/10
I'm wondering how others felt about that? I honestly don't know why one crash was more affective for me than another, but I'm wondering if I'm alone in that or not? - 5/10
I'll admit, it does have a nice staccato feel to it, as well. Almost like the strip revs up and CRASH… the boys begin to chase and CRASH… they pick themselves up and CRASH… It's a nice rhythm. - 6/10
Visually, the boys are returning to their traditional sizes… they seem much less plump in this strip than they have in the recent past, which surely means that the Slumberlandian they trip with the Resolutions will recognize them, right?! - 7/10
At this point, the boys have run into many characters who should know them, but we've given them the benefit of the doubt because of their unusual size. I'd argue that they aren't far off from normal here, so what will happen in the next strip? - 8/10
Will we begin 1908 off by reuniting with the Princess? Will we finally see the Candy Kid and Dr. Pill again? … nope. - 9/10
This is my reading of "Little Nemo in Slumberland" #116. What’s yours? - 10/10
